Pune, 25th January 2025: As India gears up to celebrate its 76th Republic Day, the nation awaits the grand parade at Kartavyapath, where the Indian Air Force (IAF) will captivate spectators with a stunning flypast. Adding to the pride of this moment, Squadron Leader Saurabh Dharmadhikari, a dynamic officer from Pune, will play a significant role in the aerial display, making it an unforgettable event for his hometown.

Squadron Leader Dharmadhikari has been honored with the responsibility of flying in the prestigious TRISHUL formation, featuring three Su-30MKI fighter jets. The formation will be led by Group Captain Manish Arora, Shaurya Chakra, with Dharmadhikari co-piloting the lead aircraft. This moment is a milestone in Dharmadhikari’s illustrious career, shaped by his passion for flying and unwavering dedication to serve the nation.
For many, working in high-rise offices is a dream. But for Dharmadhikari, the skies at 32,000 feet are his workplace. Piloting one of the world’s most advanced fighter jets requires exceptional skill and discipline, both of which he has mastered through years of rigorous training and relentless effort.

A native of Pune, Dharmadhikari completed his secondary education at Modern High School and earned his engineering degree from Pune Vidyarthi Griha’s College of Engineering and Technology. After excelling in the AFCAT exam, interview, and medical assessments, he secured a place in the Flying Branch of the IAF. He went on to receive intensive training at the Air Force Academy in Hyderabad.

During his training, Dharmadhikari consistently stood out, earning the coveted “Best in Flying” trophy in Stage 1 with the Pilatus aircraft and again in the Hawk fighter aircraft category at Bidar. His dedication to excellence was further recognized in October 2024 when he was awarded the Chief of Air Staff Commendation.

Flying is in Dharmadhikari’s blood, inspired by his grandfather, Honorary Flying Officer Bhanudas M. Somani, who served in the IAF. His journey has been supported every step of the way by his parents, Shrirang and Radhika Dharmadhikari, and his wife, Sayali Dharmadhikari, whose unwavering encouragement has been instrumental in his success.

The Su-30MKI, a cutting-edge multirole fighter, demands exceptional precision, split-second decision-making, and extraordinary physical and mental stamina. Dharmadhikari’s ability to excel in these demanding conditions has earned him the honor of flying in the TRISHUL formation during this Republic Day’s iconic flypast.

Each year, the Republic Day parade serves as a stage for the IAF’s pilots to demonstrate their unmatched skill and dedication through awe-inspiring aerial formations. This display not only highlights India’s air power but also pays tribute to the brave men and women who protect the nation’s skies. For Squadron Leader Dharmadhikari, the opportunity to lead in this spectacle is a personal and professional milestone that underscores his commitment to his country and family legacy.

As the Su-30MKIs thunder across the Republic Day sky in perfect harmony, Pune and the entire nation will beam with pride, celebrating the achievements of Squadron Leader Saurabh Dharmadhikari and the Indian Air Force.

On January 26, let’s raise our eyes to the sky and cheer for our heroes in blue as they inspire awe and patriotism with their unparalleled dedication and courage.
