Reported By Amit Singh
Pune, 2nd May 2025: Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw will flag off the inaugural run of the new Hadapsar (Pune)–Jodhpur Superfast Express from Pune on Saturday, May 3, 2025. During the same ceremony, he will also virtually inaugurate a new train service between MGR Chennai Central and Bhagat Ki Kothi (Jodhpur) via video conference from Pune.
The newly announced daily Superfast Express between Hadapsar and Jodhpur, operating under train numbers 20495/20496, is aimed at enhancing connectivity and convenience for passengers, particularly benefiting the Rajasthani community residing in and around Pune.
As part of the inauguration, Train No. 01401 Pune–Jodhpur Inaugural Special will run on May 3, departing from Pune at 17:30 hrs and reaching Jodhpur at 14:00 hrs the next day.
Hadapsar Railway Station has been selected as the originating and terminating station. The train will stop at key stations including Chinchwad, Lonavala, Kalyan, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Mehsana, Palanpur, Abu Road, Marwar, and Pali, connecting passengers across multiple states.
Local residents welcomed the development.
“I’ve been in Pune for 14 years. It’s always tough to get tickets on special or weekly trains. A daily train gives us flexibility to travel on weekends or holidays without using our leave,” said Apporva Saurav Chauhan, an IT professional.
“This is a much-needed relief. We are senior citizens and had to travel to Mumbai just to catch a train to Jodhpur. Now we can travel directly from Pune,” said Ramesh Chand Natani, who frequently visits his children in the city.
“Booking for the Inaugural Special Train opened at 16:00 hrs on May 2 and was fully booked within an hour,” said Hemant Kumar Behera, PRO of Pune Railway Division. “Booking for the newly announced daily Hadapsar–Jodhpur Express will start soon,” he added.
The inauguration marks a significant step in expanding rail services between Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu, with both new trains expected to improve passenger experience and regional connectivity.
