Bhandara, 11th September 2026: Eight people, including three children, were killed and three others injured after a Bolero SUV collided with an Eicher truck. The accident occurred while SUV was travelling from Raipur in Chhattisgarh to Nagpur via NH53 in Bhandara district. The accident took place around 4 am on Friday between Manegaon and Pimpalgaon in Lakhni taluka, police said.

According to a police official at the spot, the Bolero crashed into the truck, killing all eight occupants of the car: five adults and three children. Three injured persons were rushed to Sakoli Sub-District Hospital for treatment.

The impact left the SUV trapped underneath the truck. Police and local residents launched relief and rescue operations, using two JCB machines to remove the vehicle and recover the victims. Bhandara Superintendent of Police Noorul Hasan confirmed the death toll and said the injured were stable and receiving care.

The stretch between Manegaon and Pimpalgaon is part of the Nagpur-Raipur corridor, which sees mixed traffic of heavy goods vehicles and passenger vehicles. Preliminary accounts pointed to a high-impact collision, but officials said a detailed investigation into speed, visibility and possible fatigue was underway.

Police registered a case and began collecting statements from witnesses and truck operators in the area. Further action will depend on the probe findings.
