Rajinikanth’s “Jailer” Shatters Box Office Records: Emerges As The 5th Highest-Grossing Indian Film of 2023

Mumbai, 15th August 2023: Nelson Dilipkumar’s highly anticipated cinematic creation, “Jailer,” starring the renowned Rajinikanth in the lead role, has recently graced cinema screens, receiving accolades from critics and securing its holds the rank of being the fifth highest-earning Indian film of 2023. Amidst the film’s triumph, discussions regarding its digital rights and potential streaming avenues are generating significant buzz across various social media platforms.

According to the latest reports, the digital streaming rights for “Jailer” have been successfully acquired by Sun Pictures, a production company owned by Kalanithi Maran, in partnership with Netflix. The film is scheduled to be accessible for streaming via the Sun NXT platform. Additionally, Sun Network has clinched the satellite rights for “Jailer” across its Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam versions.

Insider sources hint that following its 28-day theatrical run, “Jailer” will transition to the Sun NXT platform. This transition is tentatively expected to take place around September 6th or 7th, though an official confirmation is still pending.

Upon its recent theatrical release, “Jailer” made a profound impact during its opening weekend. Debuting on Thursday, August 10th, the film’s extended weekend contributed to a global box office collection estimated to exceed Rs 300 crore. By its fourth day in Indian cinemas, the movie reportedly garnered around Rs 38 crore, encompassing earnings from all language versions. At the conclusion of the opening weekend, “Jailer” had amassed an impressive total of Rs 146.40 crore in India alone.

“Jailer” is a riveting action thriller presented in the Tamil language, masterfully directed by Nelson and backed by Kalanithi Maran’s Sun Pictures. Alongside Rajinikanth, the film features a talented ensemble cast including Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Sunil, Mirnaa Menon, and Yogi Babu in supporting roles.

As Superstar Rajinikanth’s 169th cinematic venture, “Jailer” also marks his triumphant return to the silver screen after a two-year hiatus, his last appearance being in “Annaatthe.” The film’s musical score is expertly composed by Anirudh Ravichander, while the cinematography and editing are skillfully overseen by Vijay Kartik Kannan and R. Nirmal, respectively.

Presently, Rajinikanth is deeply immersed in the filming of his upcoming sports drama film, “Lal Salaam,” directed by his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth. The movie also features Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth, with a special cameo appearance by Kapil Dev.
