Pune, 10th June 2025: Skipper Azim Kazi and left-arm spinner Satyajeet Bachhav starred for clinical Ratnagiri Jets in their 67-run victory over Raigad Royals in their Adani Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) clash at the MCA International Stadium here on Tuesday.

Kazi, 31, once again led from the front with a blistering knock of 72 in 38 balls, laced with seven fours and three sixes. He was well-supported by Dhiraj Phatangare (57, 43b, 3x4s, 3x6s) as Ratnagiri posted a competitive total of 187 for 4 in their 20 overs.

Ratnagiri then restricted Raigad Royals to 120 for 9 with a splendid bowling display to record their second consecutive win of the season. Pacer Pradeep Dadhe (2 for 16 in 4 overs) dented Raigad’s chase by removing the openers — Rugved More (3, 7b) and Siddhesh Veer (18b, 17b, 1×4, 1×6) — in his opening spell of three overs.

Pacer Prathamesh Gawade (2 for 28 in 4) and Offie Kiran Chormale (2 for 31 in 3) then scalped the wickets in the middle overs before Satyajeet Bachhav (3 for 17 in 4 overs), last year’s Purple Cap winner with 25 wickets, cleaned the lower-middle order.

Bachhav claimed the wickets of Niraj Joshi (19, 16b, 1×4), Ravindra Jadhav (12, 9b, 1×6), and Savya Gajraj (16, 15b, 1×4, 1×6).

Satara Warriors record first win
Opener Om Bhosale (57, 37b, 3x4s, 4x6s) and skipper Saurabh Navale (72*, 47b, 7x4s, 3x6s) added 80 runs for the third wicket as Satara Warriors defeated PBG Kolhapur Tuskers by 7 runs to record their first win of the Maharashtra Premier League.

Satara opted to bat first but lost the opener Pavan Shah (4, 5b) early, with veteran pacer Rajneesh Gurbani (1 for 37 in 4) striking early once again. Harshal Kate (9, 5b, 2x4s) departed soon after as Satara found themselves stuttering at 32 for 2.

But, Bhosale, who has been in good nick, forged a match-changing partnership with his skipper for the third wicket. After Bhosale was caught behind by Dhanraj Shinde off leggie Shreyas Chavan’s (1 for 24 in 4) bowling, Satara’s innings wobbled a little, as they slumped to 132 for 6 from 112 for 2. However, Shamsuzama Kazi tonked 24 off 12 balls (3x4s, 1×6) to help Satara to a defendable total.

In response, PBG Kolhapur Tuskers’ chase never gathered any momentum as they were reduced to 39 for 3 at the end of the power play with Ankeet Bawne (11, 16b), skipper Rahul Tripathi (10, 10b, 1×4), and Sachin Dhas (7, 6b, 1×4) all back in the hut.

Siddharth Mhatre (28, 23b, 2x4s, 1×6) and Shrikant Mundhe (64, 41b, 3x4s, 4x6s) added 72 for the fourth wicket but once Mhatre was dismissed, it was always going to be an uphill task.

Leggie Shubham Maid (3 for 26 in 4) was the pick of the Satara bowlers with scalps of Bawne, Dhas and Mhatre against his name. He was well supported by pacer Vivek Shelar (2 for 31 in 4).

Brief scores: Ratnagiri Jets: 187 for 4 in 20 overs (Azim Kazi 72, Dhiraj Phatangare 57; Siddhesh Veer 1-23) bt Raigad Royals: 120 for 9 (Niraj Joshi 19; Satyajeet Bachhav 3-17, Pradeep Dadhe 2-16) by 67 runs.

Satara Warriors: 177 for 6 in 20 (Saurabh Navale 72*, Om Bhosale 57; Atharwa Dakway 2-29) Kolhapur Tuskers: 170 for 7 in 20 (Shrikant Mundhe 64, Siddharth Mhatre 28; Shubham Maid 3-26) by seven runs.
