Residents, Pune Police Collaboration Helps Improve Traffic Situation in Kalyani Nagar
Kalyani Nagar, 20th May 2026: Residents of Kalyani Nagar have felicitated Traffic in-charge Sangeeta Jadhav of the Yerawada Traffic Division for taking action to address long-standing traffic congestion and illegal parking issues on the D-Mart lane in the area.
The lane, which houses several IT companies, had become heavily congested during peak office hours due to vehicles being parked for extended periods in no-parking zones. Residents said the issue had led to daily traffic bottlenecks, delays, inconvenience for commuters, and safety concerns for pedestrians.
According to residents, several vehicles, including cabs, taxis and cars belonging to travellers, remained parked on both sides of the narrow road for long hours, including during late-night hours, severely affecting traffic flow.
Before initiating strict enforcement measures, the traffic police reportedly issued public announcements and warnings, giving vehicle owners an opportunity to comply with regulations. However, after violations continued, enforcement action was taken, leading to noticeable improvement in the area.
Residents said the proactive intervention by Traffic Incharge Sangeeta Jadhav resulted in reduced illegal parking, smoother traffic movement during peak hours, better regulation of cabs and taxis, and increased monitoring in the locality.
Apart from enforcement action, the traffic police also conducted awareness drives to encourage responsible parking and traffic discipline among citizens.
The felicitation programme was organised to appreciate the efforts of the traffic department and strengthen cooperation between citizens and police authorities. Residents said such initiatives encourage constructive engagement with civic authorities and help build public confidence in grievance redressal mechanisms.
Monica S, a resident of Kalyani Nagar, said, “The chaotic parking in the D-Mart lane had reached a point where residents felt helpless. The prompt intervention by Traffic Incharge Sangeeta Jadhav has changed our perspective. The department first issued public warnings before taking strict action, which reflected a balanced approach. This has restored our faith that civic discipline can be achieved when residents and police work together.”
Another resident, Yasmin C, said that after complaints were raised, strict action against violators helped reduce illegal parking and obstruction on roads. She added that residents would continue to require similar support, especially during the monsoon season.
Rajeshwari Lakhani, another resident of Kalyani Nagar, said heavy congestion continues in the area after office hours due to the presence of multiple IT companies. “Vehicles parked on both sides make walking risky for pedestrians. We hope permanent monitoring by traffic police and wardens will help further ease congestion,” she said.
Residents stated that they look forward to continued cooperation with the traffic department for long-term solutions and sustained improvement in traffic management in the area.
