Mumbai, 16th November 2021: Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Sooryavanshi’ is making a big splash at the box office. On one hand, while the film is in a discussion about its earnings, on the other hand, a different debate has arisen on social media regarding the villain of the film.

The director of the film Rohit Shetty has been accused of misrepresenting the Muslim community.

Refuting these allegations, Shetty said that ”When we choose Hindu villains in the films of today, why did these questions not arise? Why is there noise about being a Muslim villain?”

In an interview, when Shetty was asked about the controversy over the Muslim villain of ‘Suryavanshi’, the director tried to shut the trolls asking the question that until now there have been Hindu villains in the films too. Why were these questions not asked then?

According to the report, Shetty said, ”Jayakant Shikre, the villain in the movie Singham, was a Hindu Marathi. Dhruva Ranade was a Marathi when he played a villain in the movie Simmba. Why was there no problem when all these villains were Hindus?”

When Shetty was asked about the people feeling bad about the way Muslim villains were shown, Rohit dismissed these things saying that ”We never wrote the story of films about caste or religion and there has never been such an intention.”

He said, ”I don’t think so. If the terrorist is from Pakistan then what will be his religion? This film has been made with a thought in mind. We never thought so. Why is this being discussed? It is wrong to associate any bad or good person or character with their caste or religion. We have just made films keeping the audience in mind and entertaining them has been kept as a priority, there is no intention of hurting anyone.”

The film Sooryavanshi has started its second week at the box office and it is proving to be a great journey. Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif’s Sooryavanshi has crossed 200 crores at the worldwide box office. The craziness is still going on among the audience regarding the film.
