Pune, June 30, 2019 : Women form only 5% of the police force in India. This is why women police have to put in more hours of duty and also have to put up with conditions where there are no proper changing rooms and separate toilets facility for women police.

As a token of gratitude & appreciation and to further motivate women police, RCPNIBM [Rotary Club of Pune NIBM] has completed successfully a unique project of providing with a fully equipped Retiring Room admeasuring 180 sq ft. It is furnished with bunk bed, wardrobe with locker facility and full height mirror exclusively for women police. The room has an attached bath room with pressurized system for shower facility.

This would provide women police some privacy and a much needed place to rest. This in turn may inspire young girls to join the police force as lack of proper facilities may be one of the reasons for scarce enrollment of women in the police force.

Dr. Shailesh Palekar District Governor district 3131 handed over the project to police on June 27. This project has been highly appreciated by the police as well as the corporate community around Pune.

The project has been funded by M/s Nexteer Automotive Pvt. Ltd. Bengaluru, Sathe and Company Pune, Patel Ceramics Pune, Gardwel Industries Pune and Satish Kochhar and Friends from London United Kingdom.

The project has been designed and supervised by Architect Rtn. Vivek Dixit from the club itself, for the successful and satisfactory completion of the project. The total project cost is Rs 15 lakhs. The club has strategically decided to do the project in all police stations.

Rotary Club of Pune NIBM has already completed and handed over such facilities in 8 police station viz. Kondhwa, Khadak, Sahakarnagar, Market Yard, Swargate, Chatursinghi, Chakan and Pune Police Commissioner Office.
