Safe and intelligent mobility to take the centre stage at SIAT 2019

Pune, January 8: ‘Empowering Mobility – The Safe & Intelligent Way’, the subject which is being regarded as the need of the hour world over, would be the central theme of the Symposium on International Automotive Technology (SIAT 2019). This upcoming edition of SIAT, which is 16th in the series, is being organized by ARAI under an umbrella of global SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) programs from January 16th to 18th at the Oxford Golf Resort – Hill Top at Bavdhan, Pune and with support from many other reputed organizations.

The SIAT 2019 conference will be inaugurated on 16th January by Dr. A. R. Sihag Secretary, Department of Heavy Industry, Ministry for Heavy Industries and Public Sector Enterprises. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will address the gathering during the Theme Session of SIAT 2019 on 17th January. Anant Geete, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Sector Enterprises will be the Chief Guest for Valedictory ceremony to be held on 18th January.

Details of SIAT 2019 were announced by Rashmi Urdhwareshe, Director, ARAI during a Press Conference held at the ARAI Campus in the city today. A. A. Badusha, Convener of SIAT 2019 and M. R. Saraf, Senior Deputy Director ARAI were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion Rashmi Urdhwareshe said, “Over the years SIAT has emerged as the forum for exchange of ideas and brainstorming for the automotive industry, with participation of experts from all over the world. It will focus on recent advances in various automotive areas such as safety, emissions, noise, electric mobility, intelligent transportation, alternate fuels, simulation and modelling. It will bring to fore innovative ideas and solutions in automotive technologies to meet future challenges”.

“During this Symposium, over 200 technical papers, including 40 keynotes, on various subjects will be presented by renowned experts. Apart from Symposium proceedings, Technical Reference Bulletin, containing technical articles, case studies and product information, will also be published”, she added.

While sharing some other details of SIAT 2019, A. A. Badusha said, “The SIAT EXPO 2019, which is being concurrently organized, would offer an appropriate platform for spectrum of worldwide companies to showcase their Products / technologies / innovations / services through various stalls. There would be about 240 stalls of 120 exhibitors from India and abroad. Over 1200 delegates from various countries are expected to attend the event.”

During SIAT, ARAI’s work on a few emerging technologies like Light-weight Bus, intelligent controls for safer transport, Electric and Hybrid vehicles, traction batteries and energy storage will also be showcased.

The delegates will have the opportunity to listen to eminent personalities from Automotive R&D domain during a Panel Discussion on a topic “Collaborative R&D for future mobility solutions” corroborating with the Theme of SIAT 2019 on the last day of the event.
