th November 2017: City based Sahyadri Hospitals has been chosen by National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) as the third best in Cadaveric Organ Donation Program in the country for the year 2016-17. On the ‘8th Indian Organ Donation Day 2017’, the hospital received a memento at the hands of Anupriya Patel Minister of State Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in New Delhi. The award was received by Sharmila Padhye, Medical Social Worker.

Commenting on this occasion, renowned Neurosurgeon & Chairman of Sahyadri Group of Hospitals Dr. Charudutt Apte, said, “ Awareness on Organ donation has increased rapidly in last 3-4 years. We are proud that Maharashtra has been ranked as the second best organ donation state in India with 122 Organ donation cases. We would continue to contribute to the society by way of creating organ donation awareness.

He further added “Solid organs from a single brain dead patient can give a ‘Gift of Life’ to at least nine people in need (two kidneys, lungs, liver, heart, pancreas, & eyes). Such acts can effectively increase the donor pool and eventually help bridge the enormous gap between need and available organs. Pledging organ donation before death can be of great help”
