Sandip Soparrkar awarded for “Dance for a Cause” in United States of America
For over a decade now Bollywood ace choreographer Sandip Soparrkar has been winning various awards for his contribution in the field of dance and social work. His initiative ‘Dance for a Cause’ has been using dance as a medium to raise awareness and for the betterment of the society and its varied issues.
But this year was very special for the nibble footed dancer choreographer as he went internationally with his baby ‘Dance for a Cause’. In turn he was awarded by honourable Mayor of Edison, New Jersey, United States of America Mr Thomas Lankey with a Proclamation citation, which spoke highly about his illustrated work towards the societal issues.
Honourable Minister from USA Mr. Antonio Sabas and his lovely wife Mrs. Megumi N Sabas from Unicef handed over the Citation to the Indian dancer at a glittering ceremony in New
Jersey. This prestigious honour is given by the Mayor to special individuals in recognition for all the hard work and dedication they put into their respective field of work and use it to bring change to the society and environment.
While receiving the international honour Sandip said, ‘ This lovely Proclamation Citation from the honourable Mayor is a big surprise for me, I feel overwhelmed and elated with his respect. Thank you United States of America for giving Dance for a Cause such a warm welcome.’
Dance for a Cause was started by Sandip Soparrkar 10 years ago when he decided to join PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, in its effort to save the snake. Soparrkar’s organisation chooses different cause each year and this year the issue raise was ‘Acid Attack on Women’. This honour surely proves that through Dance Sandip is making India proud and he is the true Indian Ambassador of Dance to the world.
