Pune, December 8 :Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, who is currently lodged in the Yerwada Central Jail, will be released in March next year.
He may walk out from the jail on March 7 or in the second week of March as his sentence will get over about six months before the actual imprisonment period.
Prison officials said that the actor will get respite from the imprisonment thanks to his good behaviour.
According to prison manual, an inmate can get a minimum respite of 114 days if they have behaved well during their imprisonment term.
The actor, in his mid-50s, is serving his five years’ rigorous imprisonment after being convicted under Arms Act for Illegal possession of an AK-56 weapon before the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts. Dutt had already served 18 months behind bar before the trial. He has been imprisoned since May 21, 2013.
In the past jail authorities have been criticized for often allowing him going out on short leaves (parole) from the jail.
