Sassoon Hospital Wins ‘Busiworld One Act Play Competition’

Pune, May 26th, 2016: ‘Anahat’ a group of Sassoon Hospital employees has won this year’s ‘Busiworld One Act Play Competition’ with their ‘Best One Act Play’ – ‘Sparsh’. Cosmos Bank claimed the second prize for their play ‘Naav’ while Poona Management Pvt. Ltd. won the third award for ‘Slab’ in this competition. The awards for Best Acting were given to Hrishikesh Samb and Mrinmayee Kulkani. Organized by ‘Rotary Club of Pune Heritage’ (RCPH), the Prize Distribution Ceremony of this competition was held at Bharat Natya Mandir in the city yesterday.

This was the 5th year of this competition which is organized every year by RCPH for the corporates and business establishments in the Pune City and Pimpri – Chinchwad area. This year, the competition was participated by 12 companies including renowned organizations like Praj Industries, Tech Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Alfa Laval, Sassoon Hospital. The funds raised through this competition will be used to uplift of the under privileged in the society.

Organized between 19th and 22nd May, the winners of ‘Busiworld One Act Play Competition’ were awarded at the hands of Dr. Deepak Shikarpur, Past District Governor of Rotary Club. Madhumita Barve – President, RCPH, Jaywant Shintre – Secretary RCPH and Avinash Ogale – Convener, RCPH, Milind Kale – Chairman, Cosmos Bank, K.B. Gorane – Director, Operations, Alfa Laval, Santosh Kulkarni – Managing Director, Nobletech PLM Solutions were also present on this occasion. The judges of this competition Aditya Ingale and Gargi Phule graced this occasion.

The winner of this year’s competition ‘Sparsh’ presented by the team of Sassoon Hospital has been awarded with the cash prize of Rs.10,000/- along with the ‘Cosmos Trophy’ and a certificate. The second award comprising of cash prize of Rs.7,000/-, ‘Nobletech Trophy’ and a certificate was bestowed to Cosmos Bank for their play titled as ‘Naav’. The Poona Management Company was awarded with the third prize consisting cash prize of Rs.5,000/-, ‘Ganraj Trophy’ and a certificate for their play ‘Slab’ in this competition.

Hrishikesh Samb (Slab) won the award of Best Actor while Mrinmayee Kulkarni (Sparsh) bagged the award of Best Actress. The award for Best Direction was won by Prachee Ghotkar (Naav). The award for Best Background Music was given to Manasi Pandit (Naav). In the category of Best Lights, the prize was awarded to Hemant Pandit (Naav). The award for Best Set Designing was won by Rajendra Honrao (Naav) while The award for Best Playwrighter was awarded to Dr. Kalpana Kulkarni (Sparsh).

Speaking on the occasion, Madhumita Barve said, “The objective behind this competition is basically to provide a platform to the theatre lovers. Through this competition, we aim to offer an open stage to all the business professionals, their employees and family members to show their long forgotten theatre skills. More than 1000 such persons from over 25 renowned corporates have performed here so far. This is the one of its kind one act play competition organized by Rotary Club that gives an opportunity to such professional to stay connected with theater world and get an inspiration from it to tackle their monotonous lives.”

Deepak Shikarpur, chief guest of the ceremony said, “Such competitions are need of the hour in order to de-stress your life. They offer a perfect recreation and diversion in our hectic working schedules. I am thankful to RCPH for taking this initiative and I wish them best for the coming years. I am sure many corporates will like to participate in this competition every year.”

This competition was judged by renowned actors like Aditya Ingale, Gargi Phule and Nandu Pol. Aditya Ingale also shared his experience being a judge of this competition during this ceremony. The program was hosted by Supriya Jogdeo.
