Savitribai Phule Dnyanshila Opens at SPPU Pune

Pune, 21st August 2026: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) inaugurated and formally dedicated the ‘Savitribai Phule Dnyanshila’ on Friday, marking a significant addition to the university campus.

The structure was inaugurated by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar, who was the chief guest at the ceremony.

The event was presided over by SPPU Vice-Chancellor Dr Suresh Gosavi. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr Parag Kalkar, officiating Registrar Dr Prafulla Pawar and organising committee chairman Rajesh Pande were also present on the dais.

Speakers at the event said the Dnyanshila is intended as a tribute to Savitribai Phule, the pioneering social reformer and educationist, and represents the values of education, knowledge and gender equality associated with her legacy.

The inauguration was attended by members of the university’s Management Council and Senate, faculty members, non-teaching staff, students and citizens.

The organisers said the participation of the university community and local residents made the ceremony a significant campus event.
