Pune, 5th March 2024: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is streamlining its processes by adopting a paperless approach, facilitating easier access to academic documents for students across various academic departments and affiliated colleges. In this new initiative, students can now receive their academic documents at their doorstep by submitting an online application form.

Previously, academic documents were issued to students through the Vidyarthi Suvidha Kendra (Student Facilitation Center) at SPPU. However, the traditional method of applying online and submitting printed copies along with required documents proved time-consuming for students. Responding to demands from student organizations and members of the Adhi Sabha, the university is now transitioning to a fully online and paperless system, led by the examination reform committee.

In the initial phase, students will have online access to transcripts, and subsequent phases will extend this facility to include documents such as degree certificates, mark sheets for foreign university admissions, migration certificates, and pass certificates. The new process involves students filling out online applications and submitting necessary documents through the university’s computerized system. The examination department will then handle the proceedings, making the documents available in the student’s ‘Student Profile’ for easy download. This shift aims to enhance convenience and efficiency for students in obtaining their academic records.

Dr. Mahesh Kakade, Director of the Examination and Evaluation Department, has emphasized the student-centric approach in the initiative to make the process of documents and certificates paperless. The proposal for this shift will be presented in the upcoming examination and evaluation board meeting for approval. The plan also includes the introduction of a feature allowing students to monitor the progress of their application after submission. The specific procedure for the online submission of documents will be established.

Rahul Pakhere, a member of the Adhi Sabha, expressed satisfaction with the development, noting that they have been advocating for over a year to transition the document process entirely online. With this shift, students will no longer need to visit the university to fill out online applications and obtain printed copies. Additionally, updates on the progress of online applications will be communicated to students through SMS. This advancement is expected to enhance the efficiency and convenience of the document submission process for students at Savitribai Phule Pune University.
