Savitribai Phule Pune University Ranked 6th Among India’s Top 10 Universities

Pune, 13th June 2025: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), often referred to as the “Oxford of the East,” has been ranked 6th among the top 10 government multidisciplinary universities in India, according to the prestigious ‘The Week-Hansa Research Survey 2025: India’s Best Universities.’

In the comprehensive national survey, SPPU secured 679 out of 1000 points, placing it just behind some of the country’s most esteemed institutions.

Top 5 Universities in the Survey:
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)
Banaras Hindu University (BHU)
University of Delhi
Jadavpur University
University of Calcutta

Following closely, Savitribai Phule Pune University claimed the 6th position, ahead of several other reputed institutions such as:
University of Hyderabad
Andhra University
Bharathiar University, Coimbatore
University of Madras

Dr. Parag Kalkar, Pro Vice-Chancellor of SPPU, attributed this achievement to the collective efforts of the Vice-Chancellor, dedicated faculty, and the university’s management council. “This strong academic ranking reflects our continuous focus on student success and educational excellence. We remain committed to ensuring the highest standards in academics,” said Dr. Kalkar.
