SBM implementation reviewed at Budgam

Rs 7.47 Cr utilized for improving sanitation facilities

          BUDGAM, APRIL 07: Under Swach Bharat Mission(SBM), the Rural  Sanitation Department has spent Rs 7.47 crore  out of  earmarked allocation of Rs 7.49 crore, The amount was utilized particularly on construction of 56 sanitary blocks located in all rural areas of the district duly identified by the   department

This was informed in a meeting convened by District Development Commissioner Mir Altaf Ahmad to review the progress made under Swach Bharat Mission (Gramin).

Giving details about the progress made under SBM during 2015-2016, the District Panchayat Officer Budgam said that besides utilizing this Rs 7.49 Crores on measure sanitation projects the department of rural sanitation under took various initiatives   measures for improving sanitation and cleanliness in offices, towns, localities, educational institutions and Hospitals for which other allied institutions/agencies  provided   man power and other logistic help. He said that  under this Abhyan 10 town ,8 Tourist Destinations,7 Aganwadi Centers, 6 Hospitals, 5 Educational Institutions and 4 offices  were cleaned from garbage and other scattered waste ,besides  14 residential colonies , 12 SR’s  were   were  fully sanitized . The DPO further said that during the cleanliness drive 30 Quintiles of garbage/muck collected from residential colonies was destroyed.

          Speaking on the occasion the DDC impressed upon the officer that main focus of sanitation drive is to keep masses aware about the hazards of dumping garbage especially at the spots were natural drinking water  sources are released. The DDC urged all concerned to take this drive as revolutionary   initiative.  During the meeting the DDC impressed upon all BDO’s to monitor Swach Abyan initiative to ensure its better implementation.
