SDM inspires Panchayati Raj women representative by screening a movie

Ichhawar, Madhya Pradesh, 14 May 2016: On Friday, May 13, Lokesh Kumar, an IAS trainee posted as sub-divisional magistrate in Ichhawar in Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh, took an initiative of screening a movie “Sanshodhan” in Janpad assembly hall.

Sanshodhan is an Indian feature film on the theme of reservation of women seats in local self-government, produced by National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) and the  United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). It is directed by Govid Nihalani & starred Manoj Bajpai, Vanaya Joshi among others.

The story is about 73rd constitutional amendment, which is provided for reserving 1/3 seats for women in every village Panchayat. It shows how female leaders find difficulties in raising their voices in male dominated society.

Movie was screened in the presence of MLA Shailender Patel. Mr. Lokesh Kumar gave an introductory speech before screening of movie. He motivated the audience and informed how Panchayati Raj forms an independent third tier in functioning of government.

He encouraged women representatives to raise their voices against all the issues taking place in their villages.

Mr. Patel also addressed audience and suggested them to spread awareness regarding female education. He told education being foundation of development, it is necessary to monitor the actual attendance of teachers and students.

After screening of movie a discussion session was held. In discussion session various women representatives told how the movie inspired them.

Meena Palliwal, a sarpanch, said that she got inspired to raise her voice in village and she found herself in character of Vanaya Joshi, who played the lead role in the film.
