Security experts talk about different aspects of safety in Pune
Pune, September 30 , 2019 : Be it the matter of employee safety in industrial areas or easing up the traffic situation on the way to the office. The collaborative efforts of the company associations and the safety authorities are being of a great help to make Pune a safe and secured place to work. Concluded security experts at the panel discussion- ‘Collaborative Efforts to Build A Safe & Secure Pune’, held as a part of ‘Surakshit Pune Awards 2019’.
The programme was organized by ‘Pune Security Professionals’ (PSP) that took place on Friday in the city. Dignitaries including the members of Pune Security Professionals, Lloyds Das, Mangesh Kate, Shekhar Mehta and Sunil Beedlam were present on the occasion.
Experts including Ratna Pawan, Former Head of Security, HSBC, Col. Yogesh Joshi, Regional Manager, Security, Infosys, Nitin Khandekar, Country Security Manager, Black and Veatch India, Rishi Appadore, Regional Security Manager, India & South Asia, John Deere Technology Centre, India, Col. Gulshan Mongia, Military Police, Vinay Vidyadharan, Key Account Manager, Axis Communications, Jacob Prem Kumar, Chief Operating Officer, Peregrine Guarding participated in the discussion. L.t. Col. Sushil Pradhan, COO, Mitkat Advisory Services moderated the discussion.
Ratna Pawan expressed that the initiatives by Pune Police like Buddy Cop app and measures being taken by company forums are appreciable. She said, ‘‘Pune is the hub for many ITES companies, BPOs and KPOs that normally work 24X7. So, a lot of women here are leaving from office at night and reaching home night. Pune also has a lot of people from other cities. It is observed that they consider Pune to be relatively far safer from many other cities and definitely safer than some cities in north India. Pune has done an excellent job of managing the perception of being a safe and secure city not only for women, but regarding the overall crime rate and the security related incidents reported.’’
Yogesh Joshi spoke about the success of Hijawadi Industries Association (HIA) in providing safe and hassle-free environment to the manpower working in Hinjawadi. He also mentioned about how the association is cooperating with the local police and traffic police.
Regarding women safety, Joshi said, ‘‘The association comprising of 95 member companies has always stressed on the safety of women employees, like avoiding night duties to the women employees, Even if a woman has to do a night duty, she must be accompanied by at least 3 to 6 other employees in the office and also on the way to home, providing escorts to women employees to drop them safe to home at night, police verification and background verification of cab drivers etc.”
Nitin Khandekar talked about the work of Talegaon-Dabhade Industry Association. He also said that the collaborative efforts are paying off in this area also and helping the business to grow.
