Pune, August 27th, 2019: Seniority, India’s largest shopping destination for senior citizens, observed World Senior Citizen’s Day with the vision of promoting wellness and well-being among senior citizens. The remarkable day was celebrated pompously, with over 100 seniors being treated to a flurry of activities, making it a memorable occasion for them.

Seniority hosted a day-long carnival at its store in Kalyani Nagar, inviting seniors to enjoy their special day to the fullest. While games like tambola, chess, carrom, spin the wheel and ring tossing had them winning exciting prizes, a special photobooth session kept them engaged as they clicked pictures with quirky props. The highlight of the fun fair was a unique pet therapy session to boost emotional wellbeing among them. Organized in association with Animal Angels Foundation, the attendees not only learnt about the healing benefits of therapy pets but also had a gala time playing with adorable dogs Chica and Maya. “This is a unique initiative by Seniority, I had only read and heard about the effectiveness of pet therapy but got to experience it first-hand today”, said Ms. Reba, a visitor at the event.

As a part of its employee volunteering programme to enhance the lives of less privileged senior members of the society, Seniority employees spent an evening with Nirmal Seva Mahila Vrudhashram, an NGO dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged older women. They were entertained with an antakshari competition and interactive quiz on their favorite TV shows, followed by a fine-tuned live performance of traditional dhol taasha, performed by a group of young kids called Taalgarjana. As a token of goodwill, Seniority also helped provide grocery and hygiene supplies to the members of the old age home.

Ayush Agrawal and Tapan Mishra, Co-founders, Seniority, said, “World Senior Citizens’ Day is dedicated to raise awareness about the issues affecting older adults and acknowledge their contributions to the society. We wanted to make it a memorable day for them through entertaining activities, which allow us to engage with them in ways that helps promote their mental and emotional well-being. For all for the good that they have achieved so far, we are extremely grateful to them!”
