Pune, 21st June, 2019: Seniority, India’s largest shopping destination for senior citizens, hosted a yoga session for senior citizens to celebrate the ancient Indian practice of yoga on the occasion of International Day of Yoga. One of the largest gatherings of its kind, Seniority organized the session for the second year in a row, to promote the need for better health and well-being among senior citizens and their family members. The event was graced by Chief Guest,  Jagdish Mulik, MLA from Vadgaon Sheri, Pune.

Around 500 attendees assembled to perform various breathing exercises, yoga poses (asanas) and meditation under the guidance of Mr. Datta Alekar, Meditation and Wellness Coach, associated with The Art of Living Foundation since 2003. He has travelled all over Maharashtra for more than a decade to teach Yoga and Meditation and is a QCI Certified Level 2 Yoga Teacher.

Seniority aims to promote a healthy lifestyle among people, especially senior citizens, by encouraging them to practice yoga and meditation. It encourages a balanced development of the mind and body, as well as improves immunity among the elderly. The first edition of ‘Rejuvenate by Seniority’ in 2018 witnessed the largest congregation of over 400 senior citizens performing hatha yoga at the same time, for which it was recognized by the Limca Book of Records.

Ayush Agrawal and Tapan Mishra, Co-founders, Seniority, said, “Yoga helps in both physical and mental well-being of people, irrespective of age and gender. We understand the healing power of yogasanas and believe in the importance of making it a part of our daily lives. On the occasion of International Day of Yoga, we encourage the elderly and their family members to adopt a healthy lifestyle through our ‘Rejuvenate by Seniority’ initiative. This is the second year in a row that a yoga session of such magnitude has been organized for them and we are truly humbled by the overwhelming response we have received. We hope to continue living up to our brand ethos of ‘Live Evergreen’ and promote an active way of life among people for many more years to come.

Jagdish Mulik, MLA from Wadgaon Sheri, Pune said, “I personally practice yoga and believe in the power of healing through meditation. Seniority has taken a wonderful initiative to promote this practice on the International Day of Yoga and I am delighted to witness the huge gathering of people who want to make a difference in their lives through yoga.”
