Series of workshops to drive Underwater Domain Awareness framework

Pune, March 3, 2023: City-based Maritime Research Centre (MRC) along with Indo-Swiss Centre for Excellence (ISCE) is organizing a four workshops series titled ‘Institutionalized Skilling Ecosystems for Advanced Realization of Sagar Vision’ to drive the Underwater Domain Awareness (UDA) framework, beginning March 6.

The workshop series, which will be held in Pune and Malvan, has been supported by HT Parekh Foundation and College of Engineering, Pune (COEP).

“The first five-day workshop, which will focus on policy intervention will be held from March 6-10, at the COEP auditorium, where the keynote address will be given by former Member of Parliament Pradeep Rawat,” informed MRC founder Commander (Retired) Arnab Das.

“A galaxy of personalities including Mukesh Malhotra, Director, Indo-Swiss Centre of Excellence, Pradip Bhargava, Prof Anamika Barua from IIT-Guwahati (Socio Economic Framework), FICCI Task Force member and former Ambassador Anup Mudgal (Blue Economic Perspective), Jawed Ashraf, Indian Ambassador to France (The SAGAR vision and New Global Order and Raj Kumar Srivastava, Indian Ambassador to Croatia (The European Union and Opportunities for India) will address the workshop,” he said.

“In the first workshop, Hemang Jani, Secretary, Capacity Building Commission, will feature in a panel discussion on Sustainable Growth and Capacity Building,” Commodore Das added.

The second workshop will dwell on technological interventions, where there will be deliberations from experts, strategist thinkers, industry bodies and others. It will be held from March 13-17.

“There will be discussions on Quantum Computing, Innovation and start-up ecosystem, Underwater Robotics, Metaverse and Possibilities and AI and Data Analytics, National Security Challenges, non-traditional security threats and Maritime Governance during the second workshop,” Das added.

The second workshop will also be held at the COEP auditorium. The third workshop will be held at Malvan in coastal Konkan focusing on community interaction, from March 20-24, where the focus will be on briefing by the Mangrove Foundation and National Diving Institution. The series will conclude with a two-day workshop at the Indo-Swiss Centre of Excellence.
