Situation normal in Chakan after violence during Maratha reservation issue

Chakan, Pune – The district administration has brought situation under control in Chakan, located about 40 km from Pune, after violence during Maratha reservation agitation.

According to Pune rural police, the protesters damaged over 40 public transport buses, private vehicles as well as some police vans. They had also burnt tyres and attacked policemen, some of them are injured. Police used tear gas to disperse the crowd.

The protesters had called a bandh in Chakan area and they had blocked the Nashik-Pune Highway.
