Six Minors Attack Class XI Student With Machete Near Bhide Bridge, Case Registered
Pune, 4th November 2026: A 16-year-old Class XI student was seriously injured after a group of six minors allegedly attacked him with a machete and other sharp weapons near Bhide bridge on Monday night, following a dispute dating back to his Class X board examinations.
The incident took place around 9.30pm on November 2, when the victim was called to meet the group near Hotel Murlidhar. The accused allegedly confronted him over his having reported an earlier dispute to the police and then attacked him. The teenager suffered injuries to his head, hands and fingers.
According to police, the dispute began during the victim’s Class X examination at Bharat English School in the Shimla Office area. He had allegedly been assaulted by some students, who also filmed the incident. After they continued to follow him outside the school, he approached the Shivajinagar police chowky. The matter was subsequently settled after parents from both sides intervened and police counselled the students.
However, the resentment over the victim reporting the incident allegedly continued. Another dispute broke out at Vriddheshwar Ghat in Shivajinagar on August 15. On Monday, the group allegedly called him to Bhide bridge, questioned him about informing the police and attacked him when he arrived.
The victim’s friends initially took him to Poona Hospital. He was later shifted to Apollo Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.
Deccan police have registered a case of attempt to murder and detained six minors. Police inspector Ranjitsingh Pardeshi is investigating the case.
