Skoda Kodiaq Set to Launch in India with Powerful Engine and Advanced Features

Mumbai, 24th February 2025: Skoda Auto India is gearing up to introduce the second-generation Kodiaq in the Indian market, with the launch expected in April 2025. The new Kodiaq, which was recently unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, promises to bring a host of upgrades and improvements over its predecessor.
The 2025 Skoda Kodiaq will be locally assembled in India through Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits, a strategy that has helped the Czech automaker maintain competitive pricing in the past. The SUV will be offered in two trims – Sportline and Laurin & Klement (L&K), catering to different customer preferences.
Petr Janeba, Brand Director of Skoda Auto India, confirmed the April launch timeline during a media interaction. He stated, “We are excited to bring the new Kodiaq to Indian customers. The SUV has been well-received globally, and we believe it will resonate with the Indian market as well.”
The new Kodiaq boasts an evolutionary design with subtle yet noticeable changes. The exterior features sleeker LED headlights, a redesigned grille, and new 20-inch alloy wheels. The rear sports C-shaped connected LED tail lights, giving the SUV a more modern appearance.
Inside, the Kodiaq receives a significant overhaul with a new dashboard design. The centerpiece is a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, complemented by a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. Other notable features include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and a branded sound system.
Under the hood, the 2025 Kodiaq will continue to be powered by a 2.0-liter TSI petrol engine, producing 190 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. This will be paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission and an all-wheel-drive system, ensuring capable performance both on and off the road.
Safety features have also been upgraded, with the inclusion of multiple airbags, electronic stability control, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
The ADAS suite includes features like automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane assist.
The new Kodiaq is expected to compete with rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, and Jeep Meridian in the premium SUV segment. While official pricing details are yet to be announced, industry experts anticipate the Kodiaq to be priced from around Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom).
As Skoda prepares for the Kodiaq’s launch, the company is also planning to introduce other models in the Indian market, including the facelifted Kushaq, new Superb, and the all-electric Enyaq throughout 2025. This product offensive is part of Skoda’s strategy to strengthen its position in the Indian automotive market.
