Smita Ghuge From Pune Hoisted 75-Feet National Flag At ‘Khardungla Pass’ At Ladakh On Occasion Of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

Pune, 16th August 2022: Smita Ghuge, a mountaineer from Dhankawdi, set another record at ‘Khardungla Pass’, Ladakh by hoisting 75 feet national flag at a height of 17,982 feet on the occasion of the 75th Year of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Under the guidance of 360 Explorer climber Anand Bansode, Smita carried the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and hoisted the flag; Not only this, but at this very high altitude, she also read the preamble of the Constitution of India.

Smita Durgadas Ghuge, on August 15, 2022, at 6.00 am in Ladakh hoisted the 75-foot flag on the world’s highest motorable pass at 17,982 feet.

 

During this campaign, Smita Ghuge hoisted the 75-foot flag at Tithwal, Kargil Memorial, and Pongon Lake on the Indo-Pak border between August 7 and August 15 under the guidance of 360 Explorer.

 

“Getting the opportunity to hoist the 75-foot flag at Khardungla Pass on the occasion of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava of the country’s independence, was a proud moment for me. I was able to achieve this in the face of a very hostile environment because Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s inspiration was always alive in my mind. I was able to achieve this success because of the support of guide Anand Bansode and the people of Maharashtra and my family. I am dedicating my success to Maharaj,” Ghuge expressed.

Mountaineer Smita Ghuge had earlier hoisted the 75-foot flag at Everest Base Camp Lobuche on February 19, 2022, on the occasion of Shiv Jayanti. She has also hoisted the 75- foot flag at Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa.
