This is Lillette Dubey’s first Academy in the country. She personally inaugurated it and conducted an interactive and fun-filled “Magic of Theatre” workshop for the children of Gera’s Song of Joy and Greensville.

Lillette Dubey who is also Artistic Director of her own theatre company, and has acted in over 60 plays, and 55 films, and directed 35 acclaimed plays of her own, (including two mega musicals ‘Grease’ and Woody Allen’s ‘Don’t drink the water’ with children from 2 eminent schools), has introduced a specially designed programme for children of different ages. The programme aims at whetting the appetite of children for dramatic arts while teaching them some wonderful tools that can also be applied in the outside world, to build personality and improve communication skills, with a special emphasis on a sense of joy in the learning of these skills.

Applauding Gera’s ChildCentricTM Homes concept and expressing her excitement at the launch of the Lillette Dubey Theatre Academy at Gera’s Song of Joy, Lillette Dubey said, Gera’s ChildCentricTM Homes is an innovative concept that provides the best opportunities in different disciplines to nurture the natural talents of children. I am delighted that my first Theatre Academy in the country is going to be housed at Gera’s Song of Joy, Pune. Having been involved in Theatre, for over 35 years, I have observed that it grooms children and adults alike into expressive, confident individuals that are more self aware and more sensitive to the nuances of human interaction and group dynamics. It helps them overcome inhibitions, instills self-confidence, hones public speaking skills and lays the foundation for them to be better communicators and leaders. I am glad to be part of a training programme that helps kids grow and learn while allowing their parents to balance their careers and families.”

Speaking on the occasion of the launch, Mr. Rohit Gera, MD, Gera Developments said, “With the launch of the academy, ChildCentricTM Homes has moved one more step closer in fulfilling its promise to the parents of providing best in class opportunities in sports, intellectual development, arts, music, dramatics and recreation through exclusive associations with India’s eminent personalities offering the best cognitive, physical and vocational training, at the project. Besides the Lillette Dubey Theatre Academy, other eminent academies such as Viswanathan Anand Chess Academy, Shankar Mahadevan Music Academy, Shiamak Davar Dance Academy, Mahesh Bhupathi Tennis Academy and Anil Kumble’s Ten-Vic for cricket, have already started their coaching programmes and children of Song of Joy are immensely benefitting out of it.”

Mr. Gera further added, “We are extremely delighted to partner with Lillette Dubey, the renowned stage and film actress, for our most prestigious and world class concept-based project. It is our privilege to launch the Lillette Dubey Theatre Academy at our ChildCentricTMHomes project – Gera’s Song of Joy, Kharadi, Pune and bring her unique and considerable talent to create a very special workshop for our children for the first time. We have always been committed to our loyal customers and are happy to go out of our way to partner with them in their child’s development. We are extremely sensitive to their needs and will innovate and launch such unique concept-based projects to suit their sensibilities.”

The Magic of Theatre Workshop conducted by The Lillette Dubey Theatre Academy is exclusively for the residents of Gera’s Greensville and Song of Joy. As of now, the academy will start with two batches for children of age groups 7 to 11 years and 12 to 16 years. It aims at inculcating a sense of discovery for the performing arts and expand the horizons of young minds to understand the importance and relevance of the Arts and its significance in our lives. The magic of theatre workshop Lillette conducted at Gera’s Song of Joy, uses the tools of drama, from games and theatre exercises to improvisations and mime, to explore our hidden potential, build self-confidence, improve communication skills, encourage public speaking, foster trust, bonding and team building, and help discover the actor that lies within us all, and above all have fun through the process.”
