Southern Command To Conduct A Know Your Army Mela As A Build-Up To Army Day 2025

Pune, 17th December 2024: The Southern Command of the Indian Army is organizing the prestigious Army Day Parade 2025 in Pune on 15 January 2025, marking the first time this iconic event is coming to the city. As a precursor to this main event, the ‘Know Your Army Mela 2025’ is set to be organized at the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC), Pune from 03 to 05 January 2025. Open to all, the event is designed to foster a deeper connection between the Indian Army and citizens, providing an immersive experience into the life, legacy and technical advancements of the Indian Army.
Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, Ati Vishist Seva Medal, Army commander, Southern Command, will be inaugurating the Mela on 03 January 2025. The Know your Army Mela 2025 promises to be a spectacular showcase of the Indian Army’s strength, technological advancements and traditions with numerous attractive events taking place on all three days of the event.
The highlights of the event will be:
· Weapon and Equipment Display : A comprehensive exhibition of the Indian Army’s cutting-edge weaponry, vehicles and equipment showcasing the Army’s operational capabilities with a spectacular focus on ‘Made in India’ systems developed under the Aatmnirbhar Bharat initiative. The weapons and equipment that will be put on display will be Tank – T-90 Bhisma, Artillery self-propelled guns, K9-Vajra, Smerch, Pinacca guns, Engineers bridging equipment such as Sarvatra, Swathi Radar, Rajak LORROS, and numerous other Indian made specialist vehicles.
· Cultural Performances : Traditional dances and Military Band shows to include Gathka. Malakhamb, Kalarippayattu, Army Martial Arts, Khukri Dance, Pipe Band Display, Horse and Army Dog shows and a breathtaking fly past by Army aviation helicopters reflecting the diversity and heritage of the Army.
· Interactive zones: Dedicated ‘Join Indian Army’ stalls to inspire and educate the youth about career opportunities in the Indian Army.
· Photo Exhibition: A Photo Exhibition Stall, chronicling the Army’s glorious evolution, valour and sacrifice.
Aligned with the Army Day 2025 theme – “Samarth Bharat – Saksham Sena”, the mela stands as a tribute to the valour, sacrifice and the glorious evolution of the Indian Army and aims to foster greater awareness about the Indian Army and inspire the youth to join the Armed forces. The event is open to public free of cost on all three days from 09:00 AM to 17:00 PM offering an inclusive and engaging experience for all.
The event will be graced by distinguished personalities, senor military leaders and other Sate Govt dignitaries over the three days, adding to the grandeur of the occasion.
