SPORTS CADETS OF ARMY SPORTS INSTITUTE, PUNE DEMONSTRATED EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE IN KHELO INDIA SCHOOL GAMES FROM 31 JANUARY TO 08 FEBUARY 2018 AT NEW DELHI

Pune – First Khelo India School Games, which is a part of the Khelo India Programme was held from 31 January to 8 February 2018 at New Delhi. It is an initiative to transform India into a global sporting powerhouse in the coming years. Total 33 Sports Cadets from Boys Sports Company (BSC) School, Army Sports Institute (ASI), Pune participated in five sports disciplines of Archery, Athletics, Boxing, Weightlifting and Wrestling. BSC, ASI Pune won 12 Gold, 04 Silver and 05 Bronze medals in this School Games. In Athletics, Sports Cadets Vikas Yadav for Javelin Throw and Rakesh Gond for Pole Vault won Gold Medals. In Boxing Sports Cadets A Naoba Singh (50 Kg), Anil (48 Kg), Bhavesh Kattimany (52 Kg), Vijay Deep (63 Kg) and Satendra (80 Kg) won Gold Medals and Swapnil Shinde (50 Kg), Rajat (60 Kg) and J Sai Swaroop won Bronze Medals. In Weightlifting, Sports Cadets Achinta Sheuli (77 Kg) Jeremy Lalrinnunga (62 Kg), Sidhanta Gogoi (56 Kg) won Gold Medal, Jacab (62 Kg), Dambi Umpe (69 Kg), and Zakhuma (56 Kg) won Silver Medals and Markio Tario (56 Kg) won Bronze Medal. Sports Cadets Achinta Sheuli (77 Kg) was adjudged as best weightlifter of the Championship. In Wrestling Sports Cadets Praveen (50 Kg Free Style) and Akash (63 Kg Free Style) won Gold Medals, Rohan Bhosale (46 Kg Greco Roman) won Silver Medal and Sanjeev (69 Kg Free Style) won Bronze Medal.

This performance of the Boys Sports Company propelled Maharashtra to the second position in the medal tally in 1st Khelo India School Games.
