Pune, January 28, 2021: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has directed to take out the tender process for cleaning of Mula-Mutha rivers. The last date to fill the tenders was February 10. Similarly, Gadkari has also pushed similar projects in Nagpur.

The directives were given during a meeting held with Water Resource minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The project has been delayed for the last five years now. The Central government’s ‘Expenditure Finance Committee’ had sanctioned the project in 2015. Similarly, the centre had given funds of Rs 900 crore through Japan International Co-operative Agency.

The project was delayed due to flaws in the tenders. Similarly, it was shown that the project might cause losses of over Rs 300  crores to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) exchequer.
