State Conclave for SC/ST Entrepreneurs on 3rd Jan

PUNE- To encourage and promote the entrepreneurial skills of SC/ ST entrepreneurs, a State Conclave is been organized by NSIC’s National SC-ST Hub (NSSH)-Pune Chapter in association with Dalit India Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DICCI) on 3rdJan 2018 at Alpa Bachat Hall. It is an initiative of the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise, Govt. of India, informed P. Krishna Mohan, Zonal General Manager, NSIC Ltd, Mumbai. Milind Kamble, Chairman, DICCI was also present on the occasion.

The conclave will be inaugurated by Subhash Desai, Minister of Industries & Mining, Govt. of Maharashtra. The programme will be chaired by P Uday Kumar, Director Planning & Marketing, NSIC Ltd. The conclave aims to understand how NSSH can collaborate with State Government and work together at the ground level to augment the capabilities of existing SC/ST entrepreneurs. The programme also intend to hold interactions with Industry Associations and Incubators to understand their expectations about NSSH programme while also on-boarding them to play a larger role, said Mohan.

The conclave aims to bring together CPSEs, Industry Associations and State Government on a common platform and deliberate upon steps to be taken to fulfil Public Procurement Policy mandate for SC-ST entrepreneurs. It further aims at coalescing efforts taken by all the stakeholders towards creating a supportive ecosystem for inclusive growth of SC-ST Entrepreneurs, he added.

The aforementioned scheme was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with an aim to create a supportive ecosystem for SC/ST entrepreneurs by assisting them in capacity building and thereby enabling them to effectively participate in public procurement process. The scheme is organically linked to the Public Procurement Policy, 2012 of the Government of India which states that 20% of total procurement of goods and services by Central Ministries, Departments and CPSEs shall be made from MSEs and 20% of such procurement (4% of total) from MSEs shall be made from SC & ST owned MSEs. The National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), a Mini-Ratna CPSEs under the Ministry of MSME is the implementing agency for the Scheme of NSSH.

Kamble said, Ministry of MSME, through National SC-ST Hub, is continuously thriving to achieve its objectives, and in order to accomplish desired goals has taken up multiple initiatives. The DICCI has been in forefront to organize many initiatives for the entrepreneurs. Since state govt as well as central govt has taken many such initiatives, our work has got a necessary boost. We are very sure that Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” is gradually turning into a reality.
