Mumbai, 28th July 2023: Sunny Deol’s recent statement at the trailer launch of his upcoming movie Gadar 2 has sparked controversy. The renowned actor and BJP MP from Punjab’s Gurdaspur expressed his views on the India-Pakistan relationship, blaming the “political game” for the existing animosity between the two nations. Sunny’s statement has caused a stir on social media, with netizens criticizing him for his diplomatic stance.

During the trailer launch, Sunny Deol stated, “There is love on both sides (India-Pakistan). The root cause of all this animosity lies in the realm of politics. This film also exemplifies how people are averse to witnessing conflicts amongst themselves.

However, his statement didn’t sit well with netizens. One user sarcastically remarked, “Tara Singh seems to have taken the entire boycott upon himself.” Another user commented, “Sunny Deol must have known that people on this side will not take this comment lightly. They will boycott the movie. And people on that side don’t have the money to buy tickets to his movie, anyway.” A third user criticized the timing of the statement, stating, “The shameful statement emerged during the #KargilVijayDiwas commemorations from an individual claiming to be a patriot at the promotional event of Gadar 2.”

Meanwhile, Gadar 2’s makers unveiled the dramatic trailer during a mega event, and the film is generating immense excitement among fans. The theatrical release of the movie is set for August 11, featuring the return of Sunny Deol as Tara Singh and Ameesha Patel as Sakeena, as revealed in the trailer. The story takes a shocking turn when their son Charan Jeet (Utkarsh Sharma) finds himself in Pakistan and faces torture. Tara Singh sets on a mission to save his son, promising action, drama, and the iconic screams characteristic of the character. The trailer also teases a tribute to the iconic handpump scene from the original movie Gadar.

Gadar 2 is slated to clash with Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 on August 11.
