Pune, 24th May 2024 – Superbikes with engines exceeding 500cc witnessed a significant surge in sales during April 2024 in India, as reported by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). Honda, Kawasaki, Royal Enfield, Suzuki, and Triumph emerged as the key players in this thriving market segment. Sales in the 500 to 800cc category saw a notable increase compared to the previous year, with a total of 3278 units sold. Models such as the Honda CBR 650F and Kawasaki Ninja 650 led the pack in consumer preference.

In the 800 to 1000cc segment, bikes like the Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX and Triumph’s Bonneville T100 garnered considerable attention, with 153 units sold last month, marking a noticeable rise from the previous year’s sales figure of 99 units.

However, the sales of bikes larger than 1000cc experienced a slight decline. Hero MotoCorp’s offerings, including Harley Davidson bikes such as the 1200 Ex 48 and Nightster, faced a dip in sales with only 73 units sold in April 2024, down from 111 units in April 2023.

Despite this, the overall trend indicates a growing preference for powerful bikes among Indian consumers, reflecting a thriving market for high-performance motorcycles in the country. With manufacturers continually introducing new models and innovative features, the superbike segment is poised for further growth in the coming years.

Industry experts attribute this surge in sales to factors such as increasing disposable income, changing consumer preferences, and a growing culture of leisure biking among enthusiasts. As the market continues to evolve, manufacturers are expected to capitalize on this momentum by introducing more advanced and appealing offerings tailored to the needs of the Indian consumer.
