Swargate Bus Depot Rape Case: Victim’s In-Camera Testimony Submitted to Pune Court in Sealed Envelope

Pune, 3rd March 2025: The victim in the Swargate Bus Depot Rape Case has recorded her statement before the court in Pune today. The in-camera testimony was submitted to the court in a sealed envelope, detailing the incident that reportedly occurred on 25th February.
The statement comes as the investigation into the sexual assault case progresses, with the accused Dattatray Gade already in police custody. Gade, who was arrested on 28th February from Gunat village in Shirur taluka, has undergone a sexual potency test at Sassoon General Hospital and his statement has been recorded by the police.
According to reports, Gade allegedly lured the 26-year-old woman into a parked Shivshahi bus at the Swargate Bus Depot by posing as a conductor. Once inside, he sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene. The court has remanded Gade to police custody until 12th March.
In a related development, advocate Asim Sarode has filed an application in court seeking a restraining order against those posting defamatory content about the victim on social media. Sarode argues that such posts are damaging the victim’s character and tarnishing her image. The court is scheduled to hear this application tomorrow.
