TALK ON NANOTECHNOLOGY AT D.Y. PATIL SCHOOL OF BIOTECHNOLOGY AND BIOINFORMATICS

19 July 2019 : In an effort to promote knowledge of the latest technologies in the food industrythe School of Biotechnology and BioinformaticsD. Y. Patil Deemed to Be UniversityNavi Mumbai organized a talk by Prof. Kattesh KattiDirector of the Institute for Green Nanotechnology and Cancer Nanotechnology platform, University of Missouri, the USA on “Nanotechnology” Applications in Food Technology.”

The event aroused the curiosity of not only students but also leaders from the Food Industries. Prof. Kattesh Katti presented the technology developed by him on silver nanoparticles which could be safely used to enhance the shelf life of food products and to deliver substances to targeted sites at affordable costs. This helped to address issues of sustainable development in the food sector.

It was also very encouraging to see the presence of Shri. Anant Kumar Hegde incumbent Member of Parliament throughout the entire scientific deliberations. Prof. Debjani DasguptaDirector of the School of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics felicitated Shri. Hegde and observed that the development of India could happen if the rich tradition of the nation could be understood by applying modern technology. This would help to create a unique position for India in the global map of sustainable development for the planet.
