Tata Motors Unveils India’s First Turbo CNG Car: Nexon iCNG

New Delhi, 19th March 2024: Tata Motors has revealed the groundbreaking Nexon iCNG concept at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, marking the debut of India’s inaugural turbo CNG vehicle. Expected to hit the Indian market in the upcoming months, this innovative offering leverages Tata’s iCNG technology, promising superior performance and drivability on diverse terrains with its advanced low-end torque and refined calibration.

Tata’s Nexon iCNG will feature a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine generating 120 PS and 170 Nm of torque, albeit with a slightly reduced performance output. Coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission, an optional AMT variant might also be available. This pioneering vehicle integrates twin-cylinder iCNG technology seamlessly without compromising on boot space, setting a new standard in eco-friendly mobility.

The factory-fitted CNG system of the Nexon iCNG boasts thermal incident safety, leakage detection feature, micro switch, 6-point cylinder mounting scheme, single ECU, and high-quality materials in the kit. With over 6 lakh units of the Nexon sold since its introduction in 2017, Tata Motors continues to revolutionize the automotive landscape, offering customers a diverse range of ICE, EV, and now CNG options to suit their preferences and environmental concerns.
