Tata Mumbai Marathon launches Run as One

Mumbai, 20th December, 2019: Procam International, pioneers of distance running events in India, today announced ‘Run as One’ powered by ASICS Runkeeper, a leading mobile running app, a virtual run that will debut at the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2020. This virtual run will give runners an opportunity to be a part of Asia’s premier distance running event, the Tata Mumbai Marathon simultaneously on that Sunday morning, 19 January 2020 in three different categories 42K, 21K and 10K.

Running is the fastest growing participative sport in the country. Every year about 2.5 lakh individuals take to the sport of running. The trend began with the advent of Mumbai Marathon in 2004 and today, the event is at the pinnacle of distance running in Asia and one of the top ten marathons in the world. Tata Mumbai Marathon is an aspirational event for amateur runners across the country.

However, the increased demand and stricter timing cut off every year, results in over thousands of applications being rejected. In addition to this, owing to the limitations with existing infrastructure and facilities in Mumbai, the growth of participation is also restricted. Run as One aims to provide a platform to thousands of runners who dream to be a part of the Tata Mumbai Marathon, but physically cannot make it to Mumbai or are unable to meet any of the entry guidelines.

The virtual run in its true sense will transcend geographical boundaries, galvanize and encourage many more to run and experience the magic of the Tata Mumbai Marathon. We encourage you to register online with family and friends and participate together, in this unique initiative. Without being physically present on the start line – you can virtually touch and feel the spirit of TMM 2020, from wherever you are.

To participate, logon to the tatamumbaimarathon.procam.in/run-as-one and register with a nominal fee of Rs 99 for any of the three categories. Post registration download the ASICS Runkeeper App and join the TMM Run as One challenge corresponding to the chosen distance.

ASICS RUNKEEPER app is a leading mobile running app that allows users to easily track workouts, set goals, and measure progress over time. Runkeeper launched in 2008, has quickly grown into one of the most successful tracking apps in the world with over 33 million followers globally. The app is available in 180 countries and 12 languages. Runkeeper was acquired by ASICS in March 2016 and is a proud member of the ASICS family. The app is compatible with iOS and Android devices, using the smartphone’s GPS to trace running routes, time and distance.

As an added boost to the participants the top 500 male and female runners from the three categories (across age groups) will get a chance to take part in TMM 2021. Registered runners will be entitled to an e-certificate, an e-medal and a printable bib which will have a specially created Run as One logo. There are unlimited number of spots for participation in the virtual run, giving this unprecedented opportunity to many running enthusiasts.
