Tata Salt offers ‘salt-water foot-therapy’ to warkaris on their arduous pilgrimage to Pandharpur
July 20, 2018, Pune: Tata Salt, in a unique initiative and living up to its claim of being ‘Salt of the nation’ is offering benefits of ‘salt-water foot-therapy’ to thousands ofwarkari devotees. The special foot aid stations put up by Tata Salt across various halt locations provide a foot therapy to ease the pain of Warkaris who brave all weather conditions, including heavy downpours, to complete their 700 year old traditional pilgrimage to Pandharpur by foot.
On an average, the Warkaris walk about 40 to 50 kms every day and most of them are aged people coming from remote areas of Maharashtra and Karnataka. These foot aid stations will allow them to rest their tired legs by relaxing and soaking their weary feet in warm water infused with Tata Salt. This stimulates the blood flow to stiff muscles and frozen joints to give the pilgrims some much needed relief. It’s bringing alive an age old tradition that brings out the benefit of Salt beyond being just a taste maker.
In addition to providing aid for painful tired feet of thousands of devotees, Tata Salt is also supporting pandals by offering 600 kg of pulses and 125 kg of salt to prepare food for warkaris. Also 100 gm of Tata Salt sample packs were distributed to over 1 lakh devotees at Pandharpur. This initiative which began on the 14th July, will continue till 22nd July for a period of 8 days. There will also be a 5 day camp from 22nd July to ensure that the maximum number of people get relief as they complete their arduous journey, tired and exhausted after walking for weeks.
