Tatkaal Special Passport Drive in Pune on August 2: Officials Urge Applicants to Follow Guidelines Carefully
Pune, 29th July 2025: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has announced a Tatkaal Special Passport Drive at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK), Pune, scheduled for Saturday, August 2, 2025, in a bid to offer faster passport appointments under the Tatkaal scheme.
The initiative is part of MEA’s effort to reduce waiting periods and improve passport service delivery for urgent cases. However, officials have cautioned applicants to carefully check eligibility and ensure they carry all required documents, failing which they may not be allowed to proceed with their application.
“The Tatkaal scheme involves stricter eligibility and document requirements. Many applicants fail to meet them and end up wasting the appointment. We urge all applicants to read the Tatkaal Advisory and Tatkaal Undertaking thoroughly before visiting the PSK,” an official said.
Key Requirements:
Under Section 5 of the Passports Act, 1967, and Rule 5 of the Passports Rules, 1980, the Passport Authority has the right to demand additional documents and conduct necessary inquiries to verify an applicant’s credentials.
Applicants are advised to carry the original versions of the following documents, based on their case:

Important Advisories:
Plastic “Smart ID” cards such as printed Aadhaar, PAN, or Voter ID cards by private vendors will not be accepted.
Aadhaar is not a valid Date of Birth proof.
DigiLocker and mAadhaar apps must be used to fetch (not upload) digital documents. Only fetched documents submitted at the time of online application will be considered valid.
Applicants should verify QR codes on all supporting documents using the DigiLocker or mAadhaar apps before arriving at the PSK.
