Teacher booked for cutting hair of class VI student

Pune: A 38-year-old teacher of the Pune International School and Junior College, Tingarenagar, has been booked Vishrantwadi police station for allegedly cutting hair of a 10-year-old boy of class VI student.

The boy’s mother has lodged a complaint in this regard. The case has been registered against his class teacher Shweta Pushpendra Gupta (38), and vice principal Jayshree Kadam (48), principal Smita Londhe (50) and school chairman Hulgesh Chalvadi. They have been charged for offences under various sections of the Juvenile Justice Act.

The incident had taken place in his class on July 17. The teacher snipped his hair unevenly. After that other students started making fun of him. When he returned home, he informed his mother and became adamant that he will not go to school. She lodged a complaint with school management but no action was taken against then.

When she lodged complaint then the teacher was suspended.
