Hyderabad, 13th December 2024: Telugu superstar Allu Arjun, who was granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court earlier today, will remain in jail overnight due to delays in completing bail formalities. The actor, arrested in connection with the tragic stampede during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule, could not be released as the superintendent responsible for processing his release was reportedly on leave. His release is now expected on Saturday morning.

Fans Gather Outside Jail

A massive crowd of fans gathered outside the jail, eagerly awaiting the actor’s release. Allu Arjun’s legal team complied with the court’s directives by preparing two personal bonds of Rs 50,000 each, but procedural delays meant his release could not be finalized in time.

Case Background

The police arrested Allu Arjun on Friday morning from his Jubilee Hills residence under sections 105 and 118(1) of the BNS in connection with the stampede at Sandhya Theatre, which resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman, Revathi, and injuries to her child. The incident occurred on December 4 when fans rushed to catch a glimpse of the actor, leading to chaos.

Following his arrest, Allu Arjun was taken to Chikkadpally police station, produced before the Nampally Magistrate Court, and remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. He later underwent a medical examination at Gandhi Hospital.

DSP Akash Yadav interrogated the actor for two hours, while the case remains embroiled in a debate between the police and theatre owners regarding alleged lapses in security arrangements. Theatre management claimed they had requested police deployment days before the event, but adequate forces were not provided.

Victim’s Husband Defends Allu Arjun

Bhaskar, the husband of the deceased woman Revathi, stated he does not hold Allu Arjun responsible for the incident and is willing to withdraw his complaint. He added that his eight-year-old son, who sustained injuries in the stampede, is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital. Allu Arjun has already announced compensation of Rs 25 lakh for the bereaved family.

Political Reactions

The incident has sparked political controversy, with Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw accusing the Telangana government of exploiting the situation for publicity. BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar and BRS Working President KT Rama Rao criticized the Congress government for failing to ensure security at the high-profile event and condemned the treatment of Allu Arjun during his arrest.

Meanwhile, YCRCP leader Lakshmi Parvathi pointed fingers at Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for his alleged role in the case.

Industry Support

Prominent figures from the film industry have extended their support to Allu Arjun. Megastar Chiranjeevi visited his nephew’s residence, while actor Varun Dhawan and filmmaker Ashok Pandit also expressed solidarity with the actor.

As fans continue to wait outside the jail, the actor’s release tomorrow is anticipated to bring some closure to a turbulent day marked by both tragedy and controversy.
