Temporary Bridge On River Washed Away In Pune, Eight Villages Loose Contact
Pune 1st July 2023: At least eight villages of the Pune district have lost contact as the temporary bridge built for the connectivity has washed away due to heavy rain reported in the area. According to the district administration, Vadivale, Valakh, Budhawadi, Sangise, Velholi, Nevase, Khandoshi and Umbarwadi villages in Maval have lost connectivity after a temporary bridge built at Vadivale washed away.
The temporary bridge was built to provide alternate connectivity to the villagers as the construction work of a permanent bridge at Vadivale village was underway under the Chief Minister Gram Sadak Scheme. The bridge being instructed at Indrayani river provides connectivity to these villages.
However, due to heavy rain reported in the last few days the flow of water in the Indrayani river increased. As a result, the temporary bridge washed away.
Some of these villages will have to take a long route as there is no other way for connectivity here and they can use alternate route till the new bridge is constructed, said officials. The villagers are advised to use Khandshi-Umbarwadi-Govitri-via Nane Maval-Kanshet route as alternative.
