Terrorist Ambush Injures Five Security Personnel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch District

Poonch, 4th May 2024: Five security personnel sustained injuries in an ambush when terrorists fired upon two vehicles, one of which belonged to the Indian Air Force (IAF), in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.

The incident occurred near Shashidhar during the evening as the vehicles were en route to Sanai Top in the Surankote area. Among the injured, two are in critical condition and have been hospitalized. Prompt reinforcement has been deployed, and ongoing counter-terrorism operations are being conducted.

The IAF confirmed the safety of its convoy attacked near Shahsitar, with further investigations underway. This incident marks the first significant attack on the armed forces in the region this year, following a series of similar events last year. Poonch falls within the Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency, scheduled for the sixth phase of elections on May 25.
