Delhi, 19th July 2023: Boat is widely recognized as one of the most successful companies in the realm of electronic products. Established in 2015 by Aman Gupta and Sameer Mehta, it has emerged as a prominent vendor of earphones, headphones, speakers, travel chargers, smartwatches, and more. Aman Gupta, notably, gained significant fame through his appearances as an investor on two seasons of Shark Tank India, earning nationwide recognition. However, few are aware that before the triumph of Boat, this entrepreneurial trailblazer had ventured into five other startups that ultimately fell short. Let’s delve into the inspiring success story of Aman Gupta, the co-founder of Boat and a Judge on Shark Tank India.

Hailing from Delhi, Aman Gupta spent his formative years in the bustling capital. He received his schooling at Delhi Public School and pursued his undergraduate education at the University of Delhi. Aman’s professional journey led him to become a chartered accountant (CA), but his aspirations leaned towards becoming an entrepreneur. Seeking further knowledge and skills, he ventured to the United States and pursued a master’s degree at the prestigious Kellogg School of Management.

Records indicate that before the inception of Boat, Aman Gupta had embarked on five other entrepreneurial endeavours. Regrettably, none of them achieved the desired success. During an interview, he disclosed that his passion had always been to establish his own company. However, he acknowledged that he had often overlooked crucial aspects by solely focusing on launching the ventures, ultimately contributing to their failure.

He acknowledged, “I failed to give it sufficient thought, and there exists a delicate balance between self-assurance and excessive confidence. I established a spacious office and recruited a substantial team, yet I became engulfed in overseeing these operational facets instead of channelling my focus towards the products we intended to market.”Today, my office resembles and feels like a college canteen.”

Aman Gupta shared that he founded Boat at the age of 36, having worked alongside his father since the age of 23. He emphasized that no business school could impart the practical wisdom required to succeed. Aman further conveyed that persistence and unwavering determination are essential for aspiring entrepreneurs, urging everyone to persevere in pursuit of their dreams, never giving up.
