Pune, 21 May 2020 : A trailer hit the bus full of labourers going from Pune to Jharkhand on Thursday morning in Bemetra, Chhattisgarh. Three people, including the bus driver, were killed and 23 injured in the accident. The condition of 5 is said to be critical. After the accident, the police, with the help of local villagers, evacuated those trapped in the bus. The injured have been shifted to hospitals in Bilaspur and Nawagarh. The accident occurred on the Raipur-Bilaspur highway.

According to the media reports, the bus carrying the workers from Pune to Jharkhand was heading towards Bilaspur at around 8.30 am on Thursday. It had just reached the village of Temri in Nandghat area on Raipur-Bilaspur highway when the trailer coming from the opposite direction hit it. Many workers, including the bus driver, were trapped inside. The villagers started rescue operations and informed the police. After this, the trapped workers on the bus could be taken out.

One of the major reasons for the accident is the high-speed on the highway. Local people say that the government has given permission to open the dhaba, but there is no system of parking of vehicles. In such a situation, due to the dhaba, there is a long line of vehicles on the road. Both vehicles have collided head on. The trailer was going to Raipur from Korba laden with coal.
