Thunderstorm Alert Issued for Pune and Several Maharashtra Districts
Pune, 11th May 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a nowcast warning at 5:00 PM on Sunday, cautioning residents in multiple districts of Maharashtra, including Pune, to brace for sudden weather changes.
According to the IMD, isolated parts of Thane, Raigad, Latur, Nanded, Solapur, Ratnagiri, Ahilyanagar (Ahmednagar), Sangli, Pune, Dhule, and Kolhapur are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, along with light rainfall and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph in the next two to three hours.
Residents have been advised to take necessary precautions while stepping outdoors, especially in open areas or during travel. Sudden wind gusts may lead to temporary hazards such as falling branches or loose objects being blown away.
Authorities are monitoring the situation, and updates will be issued as needed.
