To curb traffic violations, CCTV based E-Challan system introduced in Pune

Pune – If you thought there is no policeman at the traffic signal and you can get away by breaking rules, then beware. Pune police traffic branch has launched e-challan system to send you message about your violation.

DCP (traffic branch) Pravin Mundhe said, “There are CCTV cameras at the traffic signals which capture the vehicle flouting traffic rules. We already have data of vehicle registration number and phone number of the owners. The person will get a message about traffic violation, fine amount as well as link of photo of violation. One can check the details on punetrafficop.net website and pay fine online. You can also pay the amount with traffic policemen who got devices to check whether you have pai your previous fine or not. Those who will not pay the fine, action will be taken against them by the RTO.”

There are about 1300 CCTV cameras at various chowks in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
