Pune: July 24, 2021: Tonnes of fishes found dead at a lake at Ambegaon-Jambhulwadi. The morning walkers first saw it alerting the villagers and the administration.

The entire area is stinking as nearly five to seven tonnes of fishes were found dead. The Jambhulwadi lake is spread over 97 acre of land but due to encroachment the lake has become a dirty place. Fast developing Ambegaon, jambhulawadi areas with high density of population too is adding to the woes.

The high rise buildings around the lake and with lack of adequate sewage treatment plans, the sewage from here directly goes into the lake. Fishing too is done on a large scale here. Although, the prima facie it is seen that the fishes have died due to polluted water, the local residents said that the fishermen use a powder which is causing the destruction.
