Traffic Diverted after Tunnel Light Angle Falls on Truck In Khambatki Ghat On Pune-Bangalore Highway
Satara, 16th August 2023: The sunlight angle within the tunnel, which guides the way from Khambatki Ghat to Pune along the Satara-Pune highway, dislodged and collided with a truck moving along the road. As a result of this incident, the truck sustained damage, and the driver suffered minor injuries due to the unexpected dislodgement of the guiding angle.
Following this incident, traffic heading towards Pune has been redirected via Khambatki Ghat since 7 am. To manage the diversion, transportation oversight is being carried out at point Y, with Highway Police Officer Avinash Dere, along with other law enforcement personnel, stationed at the tunnel.
This is not the first instance of such an incident; angles within the tunnel have previously come loose and fallen onto vehicles, including both cars and trucks. Certain angles have already been dislodged, despite their installation 23 years ago. These angles have not undergone testing since their initial installation, and a significant number of them are currently weakened.
