Tragedy Strikes as Upper Berth Seat Falls, Kills Passenger on Pune-bound Train

Pune, 27th June 2024: A 62-year-old passenger tragically lost his life aboard an Indian Railway train when an upper berth seat collapsed onto him while he was asleep on the lower berth. The incident, reported by Indian Railways, was attributed to the seat not being properly secured with chains. This unfortunate event underscores the critical importance of ensuring safety measures while traveling, especially in sleeper coaches.

The incident occurred on the Ernakulam-Hazrat Nijamuddin Millenium Express, where Kerala resident Ali Khan, aged 60, sustained serious head injuries when an upper berth seat fell on him. He was immediately taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
